Kitchen first

I came up as a chef and worked in the restaurant industry, where nothing waits. Service starts when it starts, the plan has to hold up when the night goes sideways, and the people in the room judge you on what lands on the plate. Kitchens taught me to prepare early, stay calm when it gets busy, and care about the details nobody notices until they're wrong.

Service mindset

Hospitality is customer service at full speed. You listen, you work out what someone actually wants, and you make it right when something slips. I work with clients the same way: plain answers, no jargon, and no disappearing after launch.

The big picture

A good service looks like one smooth evening, but it's dozens of small jobs timed to land together. I think about websites the same way. Before I build anything I ask what the business needs it to do, who will use it, and what it will take to keep running after launch. Then I work backwards from there.

Time and follow-through

Running a kitchen is a lesson in time management. You break the work into steps, put them in order, and finish each one when it's due. I plan projects the same way, so you know what happens next and when to expect it.

Tinkerer by nature

I'm a nerd who likes figuring out how things work, and I'd rather build a tool than do the same task by hand twice. That's where the products on this site came from: test prep for people entering the trades, a place for makers to share their projects, a spec builder, and a menu and proposal builder for chefs and caterers. They're ours, and they show how I work.

Why small businesses

Restaurants are small businesses, and I know how little time an owner has. If you're busy running yours, a website should be one less thing to worry about. You'll work with the same person the whole way through.
